1. Preparation
Choose the right grease: Choose the grease according to the working environment (such as temperature, humidity, whether there are corrosive gases, etc.) and working requirements (such as speed, load, etc.) of the precision rolling mill motor. For example, in a high temperature environment, a high temperature resistant grease should be selected; in an environment with a risk of chemical corrosion, a grease with corrosion resistance should be used. Common types of grease include lithium-based grease and calcium-based grease. Lithium-based grease has good water resistance and mechanical stability and is suitable for a variety of working environments. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the quality of the grease meets the requirements of precision motors and has a low impurity content.
Preparation of cleaning tools and materials: Prepare the tools needed to clean the bearings, such as a clean brush, tweezers, and a special bearing cleaning agent. It is also necessary to prepare a container for the old grease and tools for applying new grease, such as a special grease gun or a small spoon.
Preparation of safety measures: Before changing the grease, make sure that the motor is powered off and take measures to prevent the motor from accidentally starting, such as hanging a warning sign that says "under maintenance, no closing". At the same time, prepare personal protective equipment such as gloves and goggles to prevent the detergent from splashing into the eyes or the grease from contacting the skin.
2. Removal of old grease
Removal of motor components (if necessary): For some Precise rolling mill Motors with complex structures, it may be necessary to remove part of the motor housing or end cover to facilitate access to the bearings. During the disassembly process, be careful to mark the position and connection method of each component to avoid errors during reassembly.
Cleaning the bearings: Use a brush and a special bearing cleaner to carefully remove the old grease on the inner and outer rings of the bearings, the surface of the balls or rollers, and the cage. During the cleaning process, be careful not to let the cleaning agent enter other parts such as the windings of the motor. After cleaning, use clean compressed air or a clean rag to blow or wipe the cleaning agent on the bearing surface to ensure that the bearing surface is completely dry.
3. Apply new grease
Determine the amount of grease applied: The amount of grease applied should be moderate. Generally speaking, for rolling bearings, the filling amount is about 1/3 - 1/2 of the internal space of the bearing. Overfilling will cause grease leakage, increase stirring resistance, and generate excessive heat; underfilling will not provide sufficient lubrication. You can refer to the bearing manufacturer's recommendations or use a professional grease filling tool to ensure the correct filling amount.
Application method: Apply new grease evenly to the rolling elements (balls or rollers), inner and outer rings, and cages of the bearing. You can use a grease gun to inject grease into the bearing, and then use a small spoon or fingers (wearing clean gloves) to evenly distribute the grease to various parts. During the application process, be careful to avoid mixing air into the grease to avoid affecting the lubrication effect.
4. Reassembly and inspection
Reassembly of motor components: After applying new grease, reassemble the disassembled motor components according to the previously marked positions and connection methods. During the assembly process, ensure that each component is installed in place and the screws and other connectors are tightened, but be careful not to overtighten to avoid damaging the components.
Check the operation of the motor: After reassembly, first perform a no-load test to check whether the motor starts normally, whether the no-load current is within the normal range, and whether the vibration and noise of the motor are too large. If the no-load test is normal, then gradually load it and observe the operating status of the motor under load, including parameters such as speed, temperature, vibration, etc., to ensure that the motor can operate normally after replacing the grease.
