Do You Know What's Causing The Motor To Scream

Mar 12, 2024 Leave a message

A motor user once raised the issue that sometimes the motor emits a piercing scream during operation, and the sound becomes louder and louder over time. So, we just want to know what's causing this?
Through analysis, it was found that this phenomenon generally occurs in variable frequency motors, which are powered by frequency converters. Therefore, compared with ordinary motors, the factors that cause equipment vibration are more complex. In variable frequency power supplies, the time harmonics of each order and the inherent spatial harmonics of the electromagnetic part of the motor interact with each other. Therefore, the operating frequency range of the motor is wide, and the speed change range is large. The frequencies of various electromagnetic force waves will emit piercing screams under the influence of the natural vibration frequency of individual components.
Of course, other reasons cannot be ruled out, such as aging of motor bearings, electrical issues, etc. When solving the problem, it is necessary to first determine the cause of the scream, so as to take targeted measures.
